Key Components and Functionality

This packaging is a mechanical system with several interconnected parts:

1. Outer Shell / Barrel:

   • Material: Almost always PP (Polypropylene). PP is chosen because it is:

     • Rigid & Sturdy: Provides structure and protects the product.

     • Chemically Resistant: Won't degrade from interaction with the deodorant's active ingredients (like aluminum salts).

     • Cost-Effective: Inexpensive for mass production.

2. Twist-Up Mechanism (The "Engine"):

   • This is the core of the package, located at the bottom.

   • It consists of a screw mechanism and a spring.

   • How it Works: When the user rotates the knob at the bottom, it turns a threaded column inside. The platform (or "elevator") that holds the deodorant is screwed onto this column. As the column turns, the platform is forced to move up or down in a straight line. The spring helps provide tension for a smooth action and can assist in retraction.

3. Platform / Elevator Cup:

   • A small plastic cup that the deodorant product is molded onto or hot-pressed into.

   • It locks into the screw mechanism and moves the product up and down.

4. Cap / Overcap:

   • Screws or snaps onto the top of the barrel.

   • Primary Function: To seal the product, prevent it from drying out, and protect the deodorant stick from damage and contamination.

   • It often includes a "domed" interior to accommodate the raised deodorant stick when the cap is closed.
